On Friday, 17th October 2025, Ambassador-Designate of Sri Lanka to Brazil, C.A. Chaminda I. Colonne, presented open copies of her Letters of Credence to Secretary General Ambassador Maria Laura da Rocha, at the Secretary General´s office in the Itamaraty Palace of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil in Brasília.
Secretary General Ambassador Rocha warmly welcomed the Ambassador Chaminda Colonne and assured her fullest support and cooperation in strengthening bilateral relations during Ambassador´s new tenure of office in Brasília.
During the meeting, the Ambassador Chaminda Colonne highlighted the importance of advancing economic diplomacy, in alignment with the vision of the present Government of Sri Lanka and holding 2nd Round of Bilateral Political Consultations between the two Foreign Ministries in 2026, paving the way for the exchange of high-level bilateral visits.
Both recalled and exchanged their views on furthering long standing excellent bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Brazil in the coming years.
Director General of Department of China & Russia, Ambassador Pedro Terra; Head of General Coordination for Protocol, Counselor Mauricio Franco dos Santos; Assistant to Secretary General, Counselor Candice Sakamoto; First Secretary of Department of India, South & Southeast Asia, Talita Cardoso Cordoba de Lima of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil and Minister Counsellor (Commercial) Chathurika Perera of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brazil joined the meeting.
