Brazil – Asia Chamber of Commerce shows keen interest in participation at Sri Lanka Expo 2026

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Brazil, C.A. Chaminda I. Colonne, held a productive discussion with President of Brazil – Asia Chamber of Commerce (CBA), Reginaldo Lante, on 14th January 2026, focusing on Brazil´s potential participation in Sri Lanka Expo 2026. The meeting was further graced by the virtual participation of Chairman, Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB), Mangala Wijesinghe was also joined the discussion from Colombo.
During the meeting, Chairman, Mangala Wijesinghe highlighted the strengths of the Sri Lanka´s business sector, emphasizing the country´s well-established apparel, rubber industries, as well as rapidly expanding information technology, machinery parts and advanced technologies. He underscored the potential collaboration through partnerships and joint ventures between Sri Lanka and Brazil. The Chairman also presented an overview of Sri Lanka Expo 2026, outlining the significant benefits and opportunities, available to international companies visiting Sri Lanka during the event.
Ambassador Chaminda Colonne emphasized that the current bilateral trade turnover with Brazil stands only US$ 150 million and there is high untapped potential to furthering trade and economic ties and Ambassador requested the support of the Brazil – Asia Chamber of Commerce to strengthen the economic and trade ties, investment and tourism with Brazil and the Latin America region.
President, Reginaldo Lante, shared the role of the Brazil – Asia Chamber of Commerce in facilitating business linkages between Brazil and Asian countries. President expressed strong interest in Brazilian companies participating as exhibitors at Sri Lanka Expo 2026, recognizing the event as a valuable platform for market entry and collaboration.
Ambassador Chaminda Colonne and President Reginaldo Lante discussed opportunities available to increase bilateral trade, with particularly focusing initially to enhance business linkages in Tea and Cinnamon. The discussion also extended to potential investment opportunities, generating considerable interest among Brazilian stakeholders. Both agreed to follow-up meetings involving Sri Lanka Tea Board, Spices and Allied Products Marketing Board and the Colombo Port City Economic Commission, aimed at presenting comprehensive investment and business opportunities in Sri Lanka to Brazilian companies and investors.
Vice President of Brazil – Asia Chamber of Commerce, Rogerio Gabriel Alves; Actg. Director of Market Development Division, Saumya Kannangara; Assistant Director of Market Development, Erandi Shyamali of SLEDB and Minister Counsellor (Commercial), Chathurika Perera of the Embassy of Sri Lanka joined the meeting.
